Release Pack Campus.2024 - June 2020

Release notes provide the applicable personnel the ability to review enhancements, modifications, and regulated changes prior to accepting an updated. It is advised that users review the release notes carefully and alert appropriate district staff to changes in Campus. 

The Release Information article lists the approximate release date of all 2020 Campus releases.

Infinite Campus is moving to update all servers to ICAS (Infinite Campus Application Service) 2.0.6, which incorporates Tomcat 8.5.50 and Java 1.8.0_232

Each ICAS release has a Campus version dependency and will require its own update before moving to a higher version of Infinite Campus.  In order to update to Campus.2020 or Campus.2024, your production site must be on Campus.2016, which will include ICAS 2.0.6.

Campus Cloud Districts, you are set to be updated to Campus.2024.x this weekend, nothing more needs to be done on your part.

Cloud Choice and In-District customers already on Campus.2016 or 2020, you are set for when you submit your next update request.

Cloud Choice and In-District hosted customers on Campus 2012.x or lower, you will not be able to submit an update request for Campus.2020 or Campus.2024, as they are hidden from the Version dropdown until Campus.2016 has been installed. There are code dependencies in each package that require them to be taken separately, so a district must first request an update to Campus.2016 before you can upgrade to Campus.2024. Your district will only see versions up to Campus.2016.x in the Update Request tool, and not other updates that may have been released, until Campus.2016 and the associated ICAS package have been taken.

Self-hosted customers will need to install the ICAS package before or after updating to Campus.2016.x. For more information on how to install the ICAS package, please see the instructions that have been posted to the Self-Hosted Customers forum.

Academic Programs

Academic Planner – Progress tab double deducting credit amounts (SIS-111209)

The Academic Plan Progress tab and Academic Plan Progress report were double deducting credit amounts for students who received a failing score and failed to meet the Program’s course minimum GPA requirement. This has been corrected.

Academic Planning – Tool Rights for Copy Program button updated (SIS-135150)

Tool Rights have been updated preventing a user with Read Only access to the tab sets for Graduation and Academic Programs from creating a new program using the ‘Copy Program’ button. Access to the copy feature is granted by Add rights to the Graduation or Academic Programs’ tab sets.

Activity Registration

Custom Forms for Activity Registration (SIS-137588) [Enhancement] 

In preparation for the Activity Registration module, which will be available in a future release, users can now upload and manage supplemental Activity Registration documents in the Custom Forms tool. The following Activity Registration options are now available in the Module field in Custom Forms: Activity, Athletics and Field Trip. Forms created with these new options can only be assigned to a student via the Campus School Store and Activity Registration. Please note, if there is already a custom module with the name Activity, Athletics or Field Trip, Campus will rename the custom module; e.g. Field Trip 1, and you can continue to use those forms.

Counseling

Counselor Report not respecting District Assignment End Date (SIS-129511)

Report logic has been modified to the Counseling Effective Date field in the Counselor Report. Counselors with an end-dated District Assignment or with no District Assignment in a school will continue to display on the report if they are still an active Team Member for a student in the school.

If the Counseling Effective Date field is left blank, past and current Counselors will report for a student; this includes Counselors with an end-dated District Assignment and those who were, but no longer are, an active Team Member for a student.

Data Extract Utility

Data Extract Utility Now Available as Core Functionality (SIS-109884) [Enhancement] 

The Data Extract Utility is now available as core functionality for all users. Using the latest secure file transfer protocols, this tool provides an automated way to extract and transfer data via a flat file from Infinite Campus servers to a third-party system.

Note: No disruptions are anticipated to any existing DEU extract from this release. However, there is a slight risk that some non-standard DEU jobs may be impacted. Please verify that DEU extracts function correctly with the Campus.2024 release. If you have issues or concerns, please log a support ticket with Infinite Campus.

Also, please be aware that version 2 or higher of the SMB protocol is now required. The following versions of SMB will be supported:

  • SMB 2 - Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista SP1
  • SMB 2.1 - Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7
  • SMB 3.0 - Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016 and Windows 8

Custom Tabs Published From State to District Incorrectly Overwriting Existing Campus Tool Records (SIS-133705)

Custom Tabs published from the State down to districts were incorrectly overwriting existing tool records. This issue was causing existing tools overwritten by the custom tabs to disappear and child tools associated with the overwritten tool to appear under the state-published custom tab. This issue was corrected, all impacted tools have been fixed and all existing data remains intact.

An error was occurring due to the descriptor droplist for the Student Characteristic Descriptors - Economic Disadvantaged in the Student Education Organization Associations resource being hidden. This issue has been resolved.

FRAM

Additional Direct Certified Eligible Students (SIS-119925) [Enhancement] 

Campus can now help you identify students who are receiving a free or reduced lunch as a result of a family member's eligibility being extended to them. A new checkbox called *Extended* was added to the Eligibility tool. When this checkbox is marked, it indicates that the eligibility is the result of a family member's eligibility being extended to the student. This checkbox is automatically marked when you select the ""Extend Direct Certification Status to Additional Students in Household"" option in the Eligibility Import Wizard. When you manually enter an eligibility record, the Extended checkbox is only available if you select a Direct Source.

If the student's eligibility is the result of a family member's eligibility being extended to them, an X displays in the Source/Extended column of the Eligibility Report and the Permission to Share Report. This information can also be retrieved using an Ad Hoc filter. The Ad Hoc field name is posElig.fromExtension (Student > FRAM > Eligibility).

Eligibility Fields for Ad Hoc Reporting (SIS-119926) [Enhancement] 

The POSEligibilityToday view was added to Ad Hoc so that districts can generate a report that identifies students who do not have a current eligibility along with students who do have one on the current date only.

Grading Window (SIS-129389) [Enhancement] 

The classic Grading Window has been removed from the product. As part of this removal, the option to mark Active Masks on Grading Tasks and Standards at the Course level has also been removed and the activeMask database field has been deprecated. The new Grading Window does not use active masks.

To open Grading Windows, use the new Grading Window released in Campus.1941.

Standards Import Wizard - Error Update (SIS-137140)

The Import Wizard has been updated so that if the framework includes invalid data that prevents it from being imported, the invalid items are displayed in step 5 of the wizard to give the user more information.

Import Standards - Updating (SIS-137183) [Enhancement] 

The Standards Import Wizard has been updated to allow users to re-import an existing CASE framework to capture updates made by the state, including added and removed items and updated content. To re-import, paste the URL of the framework into the wizard and follow the normal steps to import. Step 5 of the wizard lists updates that will be made to the standards bank upon import, items added to the framework, items with updated text, and items that have been archived. Note: when importing updated items, any changes previously made in the district's Standards Bank will be overwritten when the updated items are imported. For this reason, users have the option of declining an updated item by unmarking the checkbox in the list.

Snapshot Comparison Report (SIS-137206) [Enhancement] 

A new report, Snapshot Comparison, is now available that districts can use to identify a student's score in a class prior to distance learning. The report compares a student's posted grades and in-progress grades against a snapshot of what their grade would have been had it been calculated based only on assignments due between the entered start and end dates.

Health Office Visits Fix (SIS-137154)

Previously on a saved Health Office Visit record, when the Recorded by field is populated with a staff person whose District Assignment is ended, the field displays blank and the Save, Delete, and Print buttons are missing. With this fix, the name of the staff person displays with the start and end dates of their District Assignment and the record can be edited, saved, or deleted.

This was also an issue with inactive Complaints, which has also been fixed.

New Payments Setup Reports (SIS-130469) [Enhancement] 

Detailed reports are now available on the Payments Setup tool for Bank Accounts, Settings and Fund Accounts.

A Print button now displays at the bottom each section and allows users to create a PDF that includes comprehensive setup information. When a school is selected in the School dropdown list in the Campus toolbar, school specific information reports. When *All Schools* is selected, information for all schools reports.

Content Security Policy Tool Default Set to Disabled (SIS-137744)

To alleviate performance issues caused by large amounts of CSP violations, the default value of the Content Security Policy tool has been set to Disabled.

Note: The value change affects all users, including those who have enabled CSP or are currently using the Report Only option. Once this update is taken, users will need to manually go back into the Content Security Policy tool and select Report Only or Enable CSP.

The Educational Services during Expulsion field reports for any student that does NOT have a disability or does NOT have an incident marked as bullying.

  • A value of N reports when a student does not have a disability, does not have an incident marked as bullying, and the expulsion resolution code is 560 or 565.

Reporting logic for the Offense Extract has been updated to include the following:

  • The Date of Incident is on or before the extract Effective Date.
  • The participant has a Primary enrollment record on the 'Date of Incident'
  • The participant is not enrolled in a grade level with Exclude marked.
  • There is a participant involved in the Offense with a Role of O: Offender AND
    • A Behavior Event associated with the Incident has an Event Type with a value of '1'
      • OR a Behavior Event associated with the Incident has an Event Type with a State Event Mapping Code = 3700 and Weapon Type selected.
      • OR the student has a Behavior Event Type with a with a valid 4-digit Standard Code for the State Event Mapping Code = 9000
      • OR Behavior Resolution with a State Resolution Code (Mapping) = 1 through 6 attached to the code 9000 Event.

Minnesota – Ed-Fi v3.1 Calendars Override Mapping (SIS-137431)

A new Calendars Override Mapping tool is available on the Calendars Resource Preferences. This mapping tool allows districts to identify specific Calendars/Schedules that they want an Infinite Campus Calendar to report as.

Logic for the Calendars Resource have been updated to not send a record if the calendar is mapped to an override calendar in the calendar override tool. The calendar selected in the override tool will be sent. However, any students enrolled in that calendar will still send EdFi records, connected to the mapped calendar record. Only map a calendar to another calendar if they are both tied to the same school.

Montana – State Event Code Mapping Updates (SIS-136062) [Enhancement] 

Descriptions for the following State Event Code Mappings have been updated as follows:

  • 11: MT – Handgun has become 11: MT - Handgun--Weapon involved is a handgun or pistol.
  • 12: MT - Shotgun/Rifle has become 12: MT - Shotgun/Rifle--Weapon involved is a shotgun or rifle.
  • 13: MT - Other Firearms has become 13: MT - Other Firearms--Any firearm that does not fit another definition.
  • 20: MT - Knife, Blade 2.5"" or Greater has become 20: MT - Knife, Blade 2.5"" or Greater--Knife with blade at least 2.5 inches

The following calculation is used to determine a student's absent/truant calculation:

  • A student who is absent or truant for 240 minutes or more is considered absent or truant for 1 school day.
  • A student who is absent or truant for 61 to 239 minutes is considered absent or truant for half of a school day.

Pennsylvania - PIMS Program Fact Logic for Re-Enrolled Students (SIS-137100)

Report logic for reporting re-enrolled students has been modified:

  • A record reports for each state reported program associated with the student when the student is enrolled or has been enrolled withing the entered Effective Date and Prior Reporting Date.
  • Program information reports when that program was ended during the student's enrollment at the school. When a student ends enrollment and returns, the ended programs also report.

Pennsylvania - PIMS Special Education Snapshot (SIS-137638)

The following modifications have been made to the PIMS Special Education Snapshot:

  • Transition IEP Status Code (field 45), Transition IEP Paid Work Based Learning (field 73), Transition IEP Job Supports/Coaching (field 74), Transition IEP Career Development/Job Exploration (field 75), and Transition IEP Modified (field 76) report Y when marked in the 2020 IEP and N when not marked in the 2020 IEP.
  • Special Education Teacher Name (field 10) now reports from the Primary Support Provider Name on the Educational Placement Type of Supports field. Only the last name reports.
  • For the July Reporting Period, students are included if they were enrolled at any time during the reporting calendar. Students who are no longer enrolled as of the entered effective date are also included. The most recent enrollment record reports.

The Documented Hearing Loss Extract has been created. This extract collects information on students who have hearing loss primary disabilities or who are marked as having documented hearing loss on their enrollment record.

The Documented Hearing Loss checkbox has been added to the State Reporting Fields section of the Enrollments tab.

Also, the Documented Hearing Loss field has been added to the SD Enrollment Extract and Import. This field reports ‘Y’ if the Documented Hearing Loss checkbox is marked on a student’s enrollment record.

Virginia - Master Schedule (MSC) Update for Instructional Setting (SIS-135631)

Options in the Instructional Setting dropdown list on the Roster Batch Edit tool were updated to match the options on the course section.

As part of this change, logic for the Associated SOL Test Code field on the Master Schedule (MSC) report C was updated to only combine the following assessment combinations when multiple state coded assessments are on the Course Assessment tab. All other combinations are invalid.

Virginia - Verified Credits Update (SIS-136894)

Due to COVID 19, VA DOE now allows students to get a verified credit when passing the Course associated with the EOC assessment. The student does not need to pass the EOC assessment to have the verified credit post.

To support this change, the Transcript Post tool now includes the following three options: Post Grades To Transcripts, Post Verified Credits To Transcripts, and Post Verified Credits for Passing Grades to Transcripts.

The endDate logic in the Student Special Education Program Association resource has been updated to trigger when a Setting record is ended, modified, or created. The endDate logic has also been updated to not send a future endDate for an unlocked IEP.

Several updates have been made to the Wisconsin Special Ed area:

  • A new checkbox, Transfer Goal, has been added to the (I-5) Annual Review of Goals editor of the IEP 2020 format.
  • Verbiage on the Eligibility Report Eligibility Determination dropdown has been updated.
  • The page numbers on the Eligibility Report, Existing Data Review, and Referral have been moved from the top left to the lower right of the printed formats.
  • Logic on the Last Eval field on the Caseload has been updated to pull from the Eligibility Determination Date from the most recent locked Eligibility Determination.
  • Logic on the Caseload Summary Report has been updated to pull from the Eligibility Determination Date from the most recent locked Eligibility Determination plus 3 years minus one day. The warning message if this date is missing has also been updated for clarity.
  • The Notice of Addl Assmnt (IE-3) Custom Forms has been updated.

Wisconsin – Ed-Fi v3.1 Discipline Resources Updates (SIS-136732)

The triggering logic in the Discipline Actions, Discipline Incidents, and Student Discipline Incidents resources has been updated to post/delete when a student's role changes from perpetrator to a non-reportable role. The triggering logic has also been updated to post/delete when a student has an IEP record locked or unlocked. The Discipline resources have also been updated to report any student that receives an expulsion, regardless of IEP status.

A resync on the Discipline Actions, Discipline Incidents, and Students Discipline Incidents resources needs to be completed with this update.
