SameGoal FAQ

This tool is available as part of the Campus Learning premium offering and only in Ohio.

This article covers a few commonly answered questions regarding SameGoal connections:

What are SameGoal connections?

SameGoal connections allow districts to:

  • Connect IEP documents in SameGoal to a Flag in Campus.
  • View IEPs for students from the student header, Instruction > Roster, Section > Roster, and the new student details side panel in Instruction.
  • Include data from SameGoal IEPs in relevant state reports.

SameGoal connections are only available for Ohio customers with a Campus Learning license.

See the Configuring SameGoal Connections article for more information about managing these connections and SameGoal Integration for a less technical explanation of how these connections are used.

I get a different number of records when 'Pull data from SPED product integration' is marked than when it's not

The FE, GE, FD, and GQ extracts report from either data stored in Infinite Campus or SameGoal, but not both at once. Your district should determine whether Infinite Campus or SameGoal is considered the 'source of truth' for special education data.

When generating state reports, mark 'Pull data from SPED product integration' if SameGoal is the source of special education data. If storing data in Infinite Campus, leave this checkbox unmarked.

If your district previously managed special education records in Infinite Campus, refer below for SameGoal's recommendation.

Why are some records missing when 'Pull data from SPED product integration' is marked?

When 'Pull data from SPED product integration' is marked when generating the FE, GE, FD, and GQ extracts, special education data is pulled exclusively from SameGoal. The report queries SameGoal's API endpoint corresponding to the report in question and reports records that SameGoal makes available. Special education data entered in Infinite Campus is not reported.

A record returned from SameGoal is reported as long as it meets the following requirements:

  • The student is not excluded from state reporting in Infinite Campus. The 'Exclude from State Reporting' checkbox displays on the Enrollment, Calendar, School, and Grade Level tools.
  • The record entered in SameGoal falls within the student's Enrollment dates in Infinite Campus.
  • The student is included in the OneRoster demographics integration. One way to check is to visit the student's Basics tab in SameGoal and verify that their InternSIS Student Id is a string of characters in the format of XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX.
  • The special education record is categorized as "valid" in the SameGoal API.

Why does a value in SameGoal not match the corresponding field in the Infinite Campus Ohio Extract results?

First, verify that 'Pull data from SPED product integration' is marked when generating the FE, GE, FD, or GQ extract. Marking this checkbox pulls special education data from SameGoal, not from Infinite Campus. If this checkbox is not marked, special education data is reported from Infinite Campus, not SameGoal.

Why is a student's disability entered in SameGoal not being reported in Infinite Campus?

Ensure that the District of Residency is set in SameGoal.

Why is data for a specific scenario not reported as I would expect?

Please notify SameGoal of the issue so that SameGoal and Infinite Campus can investigate together. Members of SameGoal's team have a direct channel with Campus Development.

SameGoal has a test instance of SameGoal integrated with a test instance of Infinite Campus. Encourage SameGoal's team to replicate the issue in question in their test instance. If SameGoal can replicate the issue, Campus Development can review the scenario directly in the associated test instance of Campus.

Is there a recommended way to represent data in SameGoal when we previously only used Infinite Campus

If your district has special education records in Infinite Campus that are not represented in SameGoal, SameGoal recommends: "All state reporting data should be entered in SameGoal at the point this integration is enabled. If some data was previously entered into Campus manually and not in SameGoal, 'stub' documents should be entered in SameGoal that reflect data in Infinite Campus (so this data is included) and district workflows should be updated to be sure data is entered into SameGoal going forward." Please follow up with SameGoal if there are any questions regarding the management of "stub" documents within SameGoal.
