The release of Campus.2627 includes an enhanced version of Seating Charts. This redesign improves the usability, flexibility, and accessibility of the tool and addresses many concerns we've gathered directly from teachers.
The redesigned Seating Charts tool is more flexible and accessible. Improvements
Here are some of the updates we've made as part of redesigning Seating Charts:
- Greater flexibility in seat placement to more closely mirror non-traditional classroom layouts and larger seating arrangements. Beyond the standard rows and columns, teachers can lay out their seating chart to match the layout of their room.
- Option to combine sections into a single seating chart. If you're the Primary Teacher for multiple sections in a period, click Edit Sections and select additional sections to create a combined chart.
- Copy functionality that allows you to reuse a seating chart between sections and years. No more having to recreate the same layout over and over for each of your sections!
- Additional printing options allow users to select the orientation of the printed chart and what student information should be included.
- More options when auto-placing students into your layout. In addition to the existing alphabetical and random options, you can also auto-place by student number and by birthdate.
See the Comparison of Seating Charts article for a side-by-side comparison of the previous design of seating charts with the new one.
Not included - Positive Attendance
With this release, users of Positive Attendance can no longer take attendance using a seating chart. Our research showed that very few teachers used this option, choosing instead to record Positive Attendance using in list mode, which is still fully supported.
By focusing on the most commonly used attendance workflows, we’re able to keep the experience simple, consistent, and reliable across classrooms. We recognize this change may require an adjustment for some teachers. We’ll continue to listen to teacher feedback and monitor how attendance features are used. If needs or usage patterns change over time, we’ll reassess support for additional workflows in the future.
