The December Special Education Child Count (SECC) Report returns students who are receiving Early Childhood (ECSE), School Age (SA) Special Education services, or Early Intervention (EI) services on December 1. Also included are students who exited special education or ended services for ECSE, EI or SA on their third birthday between July 1 and June 30.

Report Logic

The December Special Education Child Count is a snapshot of students who are receiving special education services as of December 1 of each year. 

Students must be actively enrolled in at least one calendar on the Snapshot Date entered on the report editor. 

Student must have an active and locked IEP on the Snapshot Date with a Special Ed Record Type of A1, A2 or A3.

A student must have a State ID in order to report.

Students are NOT included in the report when:

  • The Enrollment record is marked as No Show or State Exclude.
  • The Grade Level of enrollment is marked as State Exclude.
  • The Calendar of enrollment is marked as State Exclude.

Search CalendarsSearch field to narrow the list of calendars to select. Use the Expand All/Collapse All. Place a checkbox next to the desired school and calendars.
Show Active Year  Only

When set to ON, only those calendars for the current school year are available for selection.

When set to OFF, all calendars from all school years are available for selection.

Report Options
Report Type
Indicates which report format generates. For this instance, choose the December Special Education Child Count.
Snapshot Date
Entered date is used to capture student Special Education data as of that date. This field is auto-populated with a date of 12/01/2023; to modify the date, use the calendar icon to select a new date or enter the desired date in MMDDYYYY format.
Ad hoc FilterSelect which students to include in the extract by choosing a filter that was created in the Filter Designer. Only those students included in the filter are included in the report.
Output Options
Report ProcessingTo generate the report immediately, select Generate Now option. To choose when the report generates, use the Submit to Batch option. Submit to Batch is useful when generating the report for several calendars or for larger amounts of data being reported. See the Batch Queue article for more information.
Format TypeDetermines in which format the report generates - CSV or HTML.

Generate the Report 

  1. Select the desired  Report Type.
  2. Enter a Snapshot Date.
  3. Select the desired Format.
  4. Select the desired Calendar(s).
  5. Click the Generate Extract button to display the results of the report immediately, or click the Submit to Batch button to choose when the report generates.
