CTE Programs (Texas)

Tool Search: Programs

Texas CTE Programs allow users to track the following information for Career Tech Education (CTE) students: single parent status, pregnancy, transportation, displaced homemaker status, CTE funding eligibility, and WBL Course and Service IDs. Program eligibility dates determine active status of all additional fields. These fields are described in more detail below. For more information on the general function of this tool, please see the Academic Programs (Academic Planning) article. 

Be aware that field settings are tied only to the selected program and program dates.

CTE Funding Exempt

When marked, this checkbox indicates the student is not eligible, during the user-defined date range, for CTE funding. CTE funding may be applied outside of the date range.

Single Parent

The Single Parent field indicates whether the student in the career and technical education program is unmarried or legally separated from a spouse; and has a minor child(ren) for which the parent has either custody or joint custody.

Pregnant Teen

The Pregnant Teen field indicates whether the student in the career and technical education program is pregnant.

Transportation

Checking the Transportation checkbox indicates the economically disadvantaged student enrolled in a career and technical education course receives special transportation services to enable the student to commence or continue career and technical training.

Out of Workforce

Marking this field indicates an individual who has worked for a substantial number of years providing unpaid household services for family members and is not currently gainfully employed.  This term includes those who are unemployed or underemployed and individuals who have had or would have difficulty in securing employment.

This group also includes those individuals who:

  1. have been dependent on the income of another household member but are no longer supported by such income; or
  2. have been dependent on public assistance but are no longer eligible for such assistance or may have been terminated from such assistance; or
  3. parents of a minor child who is supported by public assistance or child support but are within two years of termination from such support.

Use this field to select the appropriate student CTE program. See the Academic Programs article for more information on creating CTE programs. 

A CTE program MUST be selected to be included in the report.

Student Status

The Student Status, called Career Tech Ed Indicator in Texas state documentation, indicates whether the student is enrolled in a state-approved Career and Technical Education course as an elective or as a participant in the district’s career and technical coherent sequence of courses.

1ParticipantA student completing at least one course but not two or more high school CTE courses for two or more credits (the student does not have to pass or receive credit).
2ConcentratorA student completing and passing two or more CTE courses for at least two credits within the same program of study and not a completer.
3CompleterA student completing and passing three or more CTE courses for four or more credits within a program of study, including one level three or level four course from within the same program of study.
4ExplorerA student completing two or more high school CTE courses for two or more credits and not a participant, concentrator or completer (the student does not have to pass or receive credit).
