The following information describes vaccine compliance rules defined by the New Jersey State Department of Health.

DTaP

before 3 months
No Requirement
Students 3 months old and younger are not required to receive any doses of the DTaP vaccine.
1 dose
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they are at least 3 months old but no older than 4 months old,
  • they receive 1 dose of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, and
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance.
2 doses
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they are at least 5 months old but no older than 6 months old,
  • they receive 2 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, and
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance.
3 doses
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they are at least 7 months old but no older than 18 months old,
  • they receive 3 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, 
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, and
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance.
4 doses under 4 years
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they are at least 19 months old but no older than 47 months old,
  • they receive 4 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, 
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, and 
  • the difference between the fourth and previous dose is greater than 6 months with a 4-day tolerance.
4 doses
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they are at least 48 months old but no older than 83 months old,
  • they receive 4 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, 
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, 
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the fourth and previous dose is greater than 6 months with a 4-day tolerance, and
  • the difference between the fourth dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 48 months with a 4-day tolerance.
5 doses
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they are at least 48 months old but no older than 83 months old,
  • they receive 5 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, 
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, 
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, 
  • the difference between the fourth and previous dose is greater than 6 months with a 4-day tolerance, and
  • the difference between the fifth and previous dose is greater than or equal to 6 months with a 4-day tolerance.
3 doses age 7+
Compliant
Students are compliant when:
  • they is at least 84 months old,
  • they receive 3 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 42 days with a 4-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance, and
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than or equal to 28 days with a 4-day tolerance.
5th doses
In Progress
Students are in progress when:
  • they receive 4 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, and
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than or equal to 6 months with a 0-day tolerance.

This means that when a student has 5 doses and the last dose is less than or equal to 6 months from the effective date and the student is not compliant, the student is considered in progress.

4th dose
In Progress
Students are in progress when:
  • they receive 3 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, and
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than or equal to 6 months with a 0-day tolerance.

This means that when a student has 4 doses and the last dose is less than or equal to 6 months from the effective date and the student is not compliant, the student is considered in progress.

3rd dose age 7+
In Progress
Students are in progress when:
  • they are at least 84 months old,
  • they receive 2 doses of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, and
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than or equal to 6 months with a 0-day tolerance.

This means that when a student has 3 doses and the last dose is less than or equal to 6 months from the effective date and the student is not compliant, the student is considered in progress.

2nd dose
In Progress
Students are in progress when:
  • they receive 1 dose of the DT, Tdap, Td, or DTaP vaccine, and
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than or equal to 28 days with a 0-day tolerance.

This means that when a student has 2 doses and the last dose is less than or equal to 6 months from the effective date and the student is not compliant, the student is considered in progress.
