Tool Search: System Preferences
What is changing?
Nothing, unless you decide to change it.
Districts can determine the gender information displayed throughout Infinite Campus. A set of tools and tool rights determines what appears and to whom. A new tool right, View Gender, is being added that allows districts to restrict access to Gender information. All users in any user group will automatically have this right applied to them in the .2627 release, ensuring current functionality is not changed for users. A new tool rights user group is being added to all districts that includes all users. Only the View Gender tool right is being assigned to users in this group. This new user group ensures that any users not in a user group can still access gender information, unless the district decides to restrict it.
Previous solutions set for South Dakota and North Carolina are not affected.
Default Behavior
Gender fields are located throughout Infinite Campus. Unless action is taken to change how the fields currently appear, no changes will be made anywhere within Campus.
System Preferences
System Preferences for Gender DisplayA district-wide setting controls whether users see Gender or Legal Gender in tools and reports throughout Infinite Campus. Gender is the default behavior and displays students' gender identity. If the preference is changed and set to Legal Gender, legal gender will display for students when it is recorded in Infinite Campus. Legal Gender is not a required field. If no legal gender is recorded, gender identity will display.
See the View Gender section of the Getting Started with Tool Rights Catalog article for information about rights needed to use this tool.
Portal Gender Identity
Portal Gender IdentityA district-wide setting controls if users see Gender Identity, Legal Gender, Sex, or no display for this field on Campus Parent and Campus Student. A checkbox determines if Pronoun displays.
See the Portal Gender Identity Tool Rights article for information about rights needed to use this tool.
Attribute Names
The Identity > Gender and Identity > Legal Gender attribute label names within the Core Attribute Dictionary are unlocked and can be renamed. If a district chooses to rename an attribute label name, the change will apply only within the Infinite Campus interface. Database tables, columns, and tool names will not change.
Reports
Regardless of the settings selected, names within database tables are not affected. Information for Data Extract, SQL, and Data Validations are not affected. If a user does not have the View Gender tool right, they will not be able to create or generate shared reports that include the gender field.
Exceptions
The following tools and reports are exempt from the View Gender tool rights and system preference display. These tools and reports rely on the data staying as is. If users have rights to these tools, they will be able to view the gender fields located within them.
