The Campus.2603 release includes an update to how the permissions work for student submissions using Google Drive. Google Drive is updating their permissions enforcement in February 2026 and Infinite Campus has updated our permissions logic in response.
This issue affects only Google Drive Integration and does not affect districts that are integrated with Google Classroom.
Districts who use the Google Drive integration for student submissions must take the Campus.2603 to avoid interruption to the submission workflow.
Update: This fix will also be included in the Rx release of Campus.2551.9, available January 14, 2026.
What is changing?
Once Google's change is in place, users will no longer be able to have less than full edit rights to a file that is in a folder that they own. This change interferes with current submission logic where, when a student submits an assignment with a Google Drive file, ownership of that file changes from the student to the teacher and the file is then moved to the teacher's Drive.
The update included in Campus.2603 ensures that file permissions are properly managed when transferring ownership between teachers and students, preventing potential access issues.
When will this change apply?
Google is making the permissions change in February 2026. Campus.2603 is Generally Available on January 12, 2026 and Campus.2551.9 is available as of January 14, 2026.
What must districts do?
Update to the Campus.2603 or Campus.2551.9 versions to avoid interruption to Google Drive Integration. No configuration changes are needed.
