Tool Search: Home School

The Home School tool allows users to record and track students whose families have chosen a home education option. In North Dakota, home education is defined as a program of education supervised by a child's legal guardian. The legal guardian is responsible for selecting materials, determining an educational philosophy, and overseeing the method, manner, and delivery of instruction.

Read - View Home School records.
Write - Edit existing Home School records.
Add - Add new Home School records.
Delete - Remove Home School records.

Use the Federal/State Program Updater to import existing Home School student records or update records for multiple students. 

Add/Modify a Home School Record

  1. Click the New button. The Program Information editor displays.
  2. Enter the applicable information for the student.
  3. Click the Save icon when finished.
  4. Click Print to display a PDF view of the student's Home School records.
  5. Modify existing Home School records by clicking anywhere in the appropriate record row and making the necessary adjustments. Save when finished. 
  6. End a record by clicking anywhere in the appropriate record row and add an End Date. Click Save when finished.

District Defined Elements

District-specific data elements are established using the HomeSchool attribute (screen location) in the Custom Attribute/Dictionary tool.

  • Fields do not display in the Home School Editor. Users must select the record to see this detail.
  • The header for this section will not be displayed until district-defined elements are added.
