Data Warehouse Tool Rights

Data Warehouse consists of two tools (Data Options and Refresh Settings) that allow management of standard data warehouse functionality.

The data warehouse is a read-only database that allows optimized access to data for reporting and analysis purposes. The data warehouse periodically flattens views from the live, production database and stores them as part of a backup that can be accessed by reporting tools.

Use of the data warehouse allows a district/state to materialize views into tables, simplify joins, and improve overall reporting and database performance. Views can be added or excluded through use of the Data Options tool.

See the Data Warehouse articles to learn more about Data Warehouse tools and how they are used.

Data Options

The Data Options tool allows a system administrator the ability to manually add/remove specific database views from being "flattened" by the data warehouse optimization process.

Refresh Settings

Initial Data Warehouse configuration is performed by Infinite Campus Hosting, after which a district/state system administrator can modify the details of the views included in the backup process (Data Options) and for setting the refresh schedule for data warehouse backups (Refresh Settings).

Available Tool Rights

Users need RWAD access in order to have full access to Data Warehouse functionality.

Suggested User Groups

Typically, users of these tools have already been assigned one or more Product Security Roles that grant administrative-level access; therefore, a user group assignment is not necessary.

If your district's needs are different, you may choose to create a group that meets those needs.
