Tool Search: Transportation
This article only pertains to Districts that have enabled the new Transportation 2.0 tool. Once the Transportation 2.0 tool has been turned on, it can not be reverted.
The Transportation tool displays a student's transportation information for the day, records the bus routes students are assigned to and from school, creates transportation requests, and records information for vehicles students drive to and from school. Additional Route Types can be added via the Core Attribute/Dictionary and additional custom fields can be added to Routes, Requests, and Parking via the Custom Attribute/Dictionary.

Student Transportation
Conversion Logic
When the Transportation 2.0 tool is turned on, existing Transportation records are converted to Transportation 2.0 records. The logic is as follows:
- A new Transportation 2.0 record will be created for every Transportation record as long as it was active on or after the active year. Historic records for non-active years were not created.
- The student's Enrollment Start and End Dates are used to determine the Transportation 2.0 dates.
- When a student has two Enrollment records but one Transportation record in the same calendar, a new Transportation 2.0 record is created for each Enrollment with the same code.
- When a student has one Enrollment record but two Transportation records in the same calendar, two Transportation 2.0 records are created, tied to the same Enrollment with distinct codes. The Transportation Start and End Dates are used to determine the new records' dates in this instance.
- A default (NT) state reporting record will be created for any student with an Enrollment but no historic transportation record to convert.
- When there is a date gap between Transportation records but no gap in the Enrollment record for the same calendar, a default (NT) record will be created to fill the date gap.
- All future Transportation 2.0 records created outside the active year will include an End Date, which is the calendar end date or the Enrollment end date.
