Progress (Academic Planning)

Tool Search: Progress

Academic Planning Progress is a read-only tool that displays a color-coded grid showing a student’s progress toward completion of requirements for a Graduation Program or Academic Program (formerly CTE).

For Academic Programs, a list of test requirements and course requirements display.

How Student Progress Is Calculated:

  • Each column totals credits earned, in progress, or planned.
  • The left number = credits earned/in progress/planned.
The right number = credits required.
  • In Progress = currently enrolled, course not finished.
  • Scheduled = course scheduled later in the current year; becomes In Progress once started.
  • Planned = future courses from the Course Plan tool.
  • Credits earned in earlier grade levels (including middle school) display if they count toward the program.

Program Display

The main view of the Progress tool shows the student's requirements for their assigned academic program. If a student does not have an assigned program, the tool still displays but no information is available.

Viewing Programs

  • The main view shows progress for the assigned program.
  • Counselors can view progress toward other programs using a dropdown.
  • Viewing another program does not change the student’s official program.
  • To change programs, update the student’s Program record with new start/end dates.

Progress Layout

The Progress screen contains a section named Program Criteria that may include Credit Requirements, Course Requirements, Test Requirements, and GPA Requirements. Progress toward completion of the Academic Plan can be highlighted as follows.

  • Green – requirement met or exceeded
  • Red – requirement not met
  • Yellow – credit overflow from another credit type
  • Orange – failing grade in an in‑progress course

Credit Status

The Credit Status column breaks down the credits for that credit type into earned (ER) credits, in-progress (IP) credits, and planned (PL) credits, providing a subtotal of the student's credits.

Each credit type shows:

  • ER (Earned) – completed and posted to transcript
  • IP (In Progress) – current or scheduled courses in this school year
  • PL (Planned) – future planned courses

Totals appear only when at least one of these values exists.

Credit Type Color Coding

If a student has a failing In Progress grade, the cell for that Credit Type/Year displays in Orange. The cell remains orange even if a posted failing grade exists. If there is no failing In Progress grade, the cell displays in green or red. The Score and Percent also display in orange.

A passing In Progress grade displays in black.
