Health vaccines and their associated compliance listings are based on state guidelines. The following information describes vaccine compliance rules as defined by the Montana Department of Health.

General Compliance

  • Half-doses or reduced doses of a vaccine are not considered valid.
  • 4 day tolerance periods should be given for all spacing requirements.

DTaP

3 Doses - Complaint - Age 7 and older
  • First does on or after 1 year of age
  • At least 1 dose of Td/Tdap on or after age 7

4 Doses - Compliant - Pre-Kindergarten

  • Must be in a State Grade level of PK
4 Doses - Compliant
  • 4th dose on or after age 4
  • Difference between dose 4 and birth date is less than or equal to 7 years
4 Doses - Compliant - Age 7 and older
  • At least one dose of Td/Tdap on or after age 7

Tdap

PK to 6th

No Requirement

Students in state grades: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, KF, KH, P1, PK are not required to receive any doses of the Tdap vaccine.

1 dose grades 7-12
Compliant

Students are considered compliant if the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is in state grade: 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12,
  • the student receives 1 dose of the Tdap vaccine, and
  • the difference between the last dose and the student's birthdate is greater than or equal to 84 months with a 4 day tolerance.

2 Doses - Compliant
  • 2 Measles, Mumps and Rubella OR
  • 2 Measles, 2 Mumps, 2 Rubella OR
  • 1 Measles, Mumps, Rubella and 1 Measles, 1 Mumps, 1 Rubella
  • 1st dose on or after 12 months of age
  • Difference between dose 2 and previous is at least 1 month

Polio

 No requirement for students 18 years of age and older.

Hib

  

No requirement for students age 60 months and older.

No requirements for students in grades K-12.

Varicella

No requirement for students 0 to 11 months.
