The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System includes all students enrolled in grades K through 12 who are identified as an English Learner (EL). These students are administered state-identified proficiency assessments annually in listening, speaking, reading and writing to fulfill state and federal requirements. The assessment is designed to assess the progress of limited English proficient students in learning the English language.

Report Logic

  • All students enrolled in grades K-12 who have an EL Program Status of EL that is active on the Effective Date report a record.
  • If a student has one enrollment that is active on the Effective Date and it has a Service Type of N: Special Ed Services OR S: Partial, that enrollment reports.
    • If more than one active enrollment exists for a student, only the P: Primary enrollment reports.
  • Students participating in the TAKS-Alt assessment do NOT report.
  • Students, Grade Levels or Calendars marked State Exclude do not appear in the report.
  • Students with no State ID or who are marked as No Show do not report.
  • Any data that is missing or not applicable will report as spaces/blanks.
